Demonstrating Support for a Fisheries Subsidies Agreement at MC12
Image

Ahead of the World Trade Organization’s Twelfth Ministerial Conference (MC12), the Stop Funding Overfishing campaign is building an international wave of support to end the subsidies that drive overfishing.

Finley the Fish, a beloved mascot and advocate of ending harmful fisheries subsidies, kindly on loan from Oceana, first entered the scene in 2005 with the goal of inspiring WTO negotiators to take action. More than 15 years later, Finley is heading back to the WTO for MC12. With the help of civil society organizations, “Flat” Finley is visiting countries around the globe before MC12 to build support for an agreement and cheer on WTO members as they work to reel in a deal.
